SANA VIDA
Over 5 years ago, one young woman had the vision
for Sana Vida, meaning "healthy life". Patti
McCormick was busy running her acupuncture practice
in Austin, Texas, when she fell in love with yoga.
Over the years, she realized the benefits that regular
practice added to her life, physically and mentally.
It was then she knew she had to find a way to incorporate
yoga into her acupuncture practice, so her clients
could also benefit. Yoga was the perfect complement
to the pain and stress relieving treatments she currently
offered. It would provide an affordable way to stay
strong, flexible, and prevent further injury between
acupuncture treatments.
After attending several different types of yoga classes
in Austin and trips to Costa Rica, Patti clarified her
vision. She relocated to Marble Falls, completed her
training and developed a new acupuncture clientele.
She conveniently incorporated the hard work of her husband,
Bill Gilliland, a builder. Together they purchased a
building, completed a dramatic renovation, and Sana
Vida was born!
Their design incorporates Feng Shui principles (the
Asian practice of design to encourage the free flow
of energy) and natural materials, including environmentally
friendly bamboo flooring and slate tile. This combination
creates a beautiful, peaceful and healing environment
for all who visit.

Founder, Patti McCormick
Patti
McCormick, a native Texan, has been a licensed acupuncturist
and herbalist, since 1997. She left a lucrative 6 year
engineering career and began her study of Traditional
Chinese Medicine in 1994. Patti is currently licensed
by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and nationally
certified by the National Certification Commission for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She received her
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Texas A&M
University and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine
from the Academy of Oriental Medicine, regarded as one
of the most rigorous, 3 year programs of Oriental Medicine
in the nation.
Patti's drastic career change was prompted by her parent's
unsuccessful battle with cancer coupled with the desire
to find a path that would allow her to help others navigate
through alternative treatments. She chose the modality
of acupuncture because it appealed to her intellectually
and had similarities to engineering. Chinese Medicine
is based on a system of maintaining proper energy balances,
which is a common concept in engineering.
After completing her studies in Chinese Medicine, Patti
immediately opened Rosedale Clinic in Austin, Texas
in 1997. Rosedale Clinic offered the services of 10
massage therapists and 4 acupuncturists. After performing
nearly 6,000 acupuncture treatments, she relocated to
the Marble Falls and began work on Sana Vida Clinic
and Studio.
